FAQ

What are the requirements for troupe?

Momentum Performing Troupe is a special group of our students who are practicing technique and honing performance skills by performing for special events in our community, such as Disneyland, Knott's, OC Museum of Art, Muckenthaler Cultural Center and more. Students may audition for our Performing Troupe twice a year. Once accepted, the minimum class requirements vary with the age of the performer. Rehearsals are held on Fridays with extra rehearsals planned as needed for special events.

How do I know if I'm ready for pointe?

By following our ballet curriculum and with consideration to strenghth, alignment and age, our teachers invite students, age ten and a half and older, to join the pre-pointe class for a year long training. We do not put our students up on pointe before the age of 12 due to the development of the growth plates, bone and ligament structure. Before going on pointe, each student is seen by a podiatrist at the studio to ensure that student is prepared physically for pointe work.

Do you have performances?

We have two studio performances annually. The Holiday Showcase is our more informai showing for one night at a local venue in our community. Our Summer Performance takes place at Cal Poly Pomona University Theatre and includes our ballet production as well as a variety portion. All performances are optional and no student is ever "forced" to participate. However, this is the opportunity for our students to share their gifts with friends and family and is always a fun and memorable experience for all!

What forms of payments do you take?

We accept cash, check and credit cards. Families may also enjoy the convenience of automatic credit card payment monthly. Forms are available at the studio.

How do I get evaluated to move up a level?

Students may request an evaluation at anytime. Yearly evaluations are done in June/July prior to the annual summer performance. Teachers will make recommendations for individual's development, so that students may prepare for the new classes on the fall schedule.

Will my child be in a class with children of the same age?

We place students in classes with consideration to their ages as well as their ability. As a student progresses, we move the individual into the class we feel will benefit them the most.

When is registration?

Students may register anytime during the year. Our Fall Registation happens in August.

Do I need to let the studio know if my child will be absent?

Yes, please!! We would appreciate a phone call. In order for a student to be excused from class and to continue to hold a space in class, it is recommended that you call or email the office to let us know they will not be in class on any particular day. Students who are excused may take a "make up" class within 30 days of the excused class. A make up should be taken in a class of the same type and level as the one missed, if possible. In this way the student will continue to make progress.

Do I need to sign in?

Students will sign in on the clipboard when they enter the classroom. Even our youngest students build confidence by signing themselves in!
